Metamorphoses by Ovid Translated by A. D. Melville (Oxford World's Classics)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 3.5 MB
Overview: The Metamorphoses is a Latin narrative poem by the Roman poet Ovid. Comprising fifteen books and over 250 myths, the poem chronicles the history of the world from its creation to the deification of Julius Caesar within a loose mythico-historical framework. Its theme is change and transformation, as illustrated in Graeco-Roman myth and legend. On this ostensibly unifying thread Ovid strings together a vast and kaleidoscopic sequence of brilliant narratives, in which the often paradoxical and always arbitrary fates of his human and divine characters reflect the never-ending flux and reflux of the universe itself. This is a verse translation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses.
